Labor Day – B – O – E – C

  • Each week staff and students will be asked to complete a KINDNHS challenge. Today is the last day of the 3-2-1 challenge. Meet 3 new people (or one’s you barely know), find out 2 fun facts about them and submit your name 1 time in the KINDNHS box in the café. If you have any ideas for future challenges, please submit them to the KINDNHS ideas bucket in the cafeteria.
  • Students who are between 13 and 16 years old and interested in engineering or medical sciences, UCONN is once again offering its Biomedical Engineering Discovery program this year. The first session, Revolutionizing Prosthetics – Neuromuscular Stimulation will be held on Saturday, September 15th from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm in Farmington. This program fills very quickly. If you are interested in attending, please see Mrs. Ennis or Ms. Freese ASAP for registration information.
  • There will be a Gender and Sexuality Club informational meeting today after school in Mr. Kravontka’s room.
  • NHS Library is pleased to announce the winners of the Summer Reading Challenge. Junior Eric Richard and Freshman Kaitlyn Bialy have won gift cards to the NHS Trading Post.
  • Every day, first responders put their own lives on the line to ensure our safety. The least we can do is show our thanks. Friday, September 14th, is First Responders Night so wear red, white and blue all day and to the Football game. The Trading Post will be selling red, white and blue t-shirts all week for only $10. Stop by and buy one to not only show your school spirit but also to show support and thanks to all the police officers, firefighters and all other first responders.
  • A college rep from Mary Wood University will be here Tuesday, September 11th at 11:45 am during period 7. Any Junior or Senior interested in meeting with the rep, please make sure you sign up for the visit in Naviance and print your confirmation page to use as your pass.
  • A college rep from Yale University will be here Tuesday, September 11th at 12:15 pm during period 8. Any Junior or Senior interested in meeting with the rep, please make sure you sign up for the visit in Naviance and print your confirmation page to use as your pass.
  • Attention all students, Key Club, Newington High School’s Community Service Organization, will be holding its first meeting on Wednesday, September 12th in the Event Center at 3 pm. All are welcome to attend!
  • Attention all students who are interested in joining the Science Olympiad. There will be a meeting Wednesday, September 12th at 2:30 in room 118. Please see Mrs. Hale or Mr. Emerson with any questions.
  • Bonjour! Are you taking French or interested in learning about French Culture? Join French Club! Out first meeting for new and returning members will be held Wednesday, Sept 12th after school in room 117. See you there!
  • The NHS Math Team will be meeting on Wednesday, Sept 12th at 2:30 pm in room 228. New members are welcome. Please see Mr. Miller if you have any questions.
  • Interested in helping to create the 2019 Yearbook? Then come join the Yearbook Committee! The first meeting will be held Wednesday, September 12th after school in room 321. All grades are welcome.
  • Anyone interested in joining the Table Tennis Club, please come to an informational meeting on Thursday, September 13th at 2:30 pm in room 228.

  • Looking for an activity or a way to connect to the world of business? Join Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). Our first meeting will be held today after school in room 202. See Mrs. Dennis (room 202) or Mrs. Harding (room 206) with any questions.
  • If you are interested in helping with homecoming this year, please come to the homecoming committee’s first meeting today after school in Mrs. Morello’s room (room 315). All students elected or not, are invited to come and be a part of the committee. Hope to see you there.
  • Art Club will have its first meeting today in Room 184 in the Art & Music wing of the school. Anyone who enjoys being creative with others of like mind should join.
  • Attention Italian Club Members. We will have a brief meeting today to discuss this year’s activities. The meeting will be held immediately after school in room 101.

  • Crochet for a Cause Club will have its 1st meeting today September 4th. All are welcome. No experience necessary. Come learn to crochet scarves, hats, gloves etc.
  • Newington High School Productions has an exciting season this year! If you would like to be involved in either the Fall Drama Club production of The Laramie Project or the Spring Musical Les Miserables either on stage or behind the scenes, we will have an informational meeting today, September 4th at 3 pm in the Auditorium. Please plan to attend this meeting if you are thinking of auditioning for either production.
  • Student Council will have its 1st informational meeting tomorrow, September 5th during homeroom in the auditorium. You must check in with your homeroom teacher first. Please plan to attend!
