A – Exams Week

    Regular runs in the AM
    Late run home for 9:35 (4 buses) to take students home only
    Regular runs for 11:45 dismissal

  • Students spoke and Ms. Tigno listened! Students wanted more opportunities to have fun together after school and that’s what we intend to do! Each quarter we are going to have a Family of Learners event. Our Quarter 2 event will be held January 23rd from 2:30 pm- 4:00 pm in the gym. Come join us for dodgeball, obstacle courses, ice cream and more! It’s FUN and it’s FREE!
  • The January meeting for National English Honor Society will be tomorrow. Please send all peer tutoring hours to Mrs. DiBernardo in room 303.
  • Junior and Senior students who are interested in pursuing careers in the medical, dental, pharmacy or biomedical fields, UCONN will be holding an 8 week Mini Medical/Dental program beginning in February. Interested students must have a grade point average of 3.0 or above. Please see Mrs. Ennis as soon as possible for more information. The deadline to apply is tomorrow.
  • The NHS Book Club welcomes 2019 with a twisted thriller entitled This is Our Story. Why not stop by the library and pick up a copy? Book discussion is optional and will be held on January 31st. Come read great books with us!
    Travelers Insurance will be holding its annual Job Shadow Day on Friday, February 9th. Students will have the opportunity to shadow a number of careers including actuarial science, finance and accounting, operations, marketing, event planning and many others. If you are interested in attending, please see Mrs. Ennis in Room 200A.

    o No Backpacks are allowed during the school day.
    o No Hats or Hoods are allowed during the school day.
    o All students must be in homeroom unless there is an emergency.

  • AP Registration is now open. If you are taking AP exams, please report to Main School Counseling to register. You must pay your deposit or pay in full when you register.
  • The NHS Bowling Club is holiday its annual bowl-a-thon fundraiser this Sunday, January 13th. All ages and ability bowlers encouraged to attend. Starts at 1:00 pm offering 3 games or 2 hours of bowling with free rentals (shoes, ball and lanes) for just a $20 donation.
  • To all students interested in participating in stage crew during the production of Les Miz, there will be a safety training meeting January 14th from 6 pm- 9 pm. See you there!

  • Newington Public Schools and CCSU have established a partnership agreement that allows NHS students the opportunity to take up to two evening courses per semester, four per academic year, to earn university credit if the student earns a grade of “C” or higher. Students interested in taking a course for the spring semester need to complete the CCSU registration form and submit to the School Counseling Office by Friday, January 4th for the CCSU spring semester, which begins on Tuesday, January 22, 2019. Students can get a form in the main school counseling office.
