  • NHS KIND Challenge: Helping out with Hygiene. Now through February 14th, bring any hygiene item and place it in a box located in the café, Mrs. Harding’s room, Mrs. Dennis’ room or Mrs. Fanelli’s room. For EACH item you bring in, you will fill out your name and submit it in the challenge box in the cafeteria for a chance to win a $10 gift certificate. So, show your love and bring in as many items as you wish.
  • Good Morning from the Newington HS School Counselors! Today is the first day of National School Counseling Week. Our focus for the week is “Providing Lessons for Life”. Author Deepak Chopra once said “The way you think, the way you behave, the way you eat, can influence your life by 30 to 50 years.” As your school counselors, we are here to help you think through how you want your life’s journey to be for 50 or more years. Come by and talk to us soon. Be Great!
  • Today, the Girls Basketball team will be having a home game against Berlin in the Gym at 6:45 pm.
  • Box Office is open for the Spring Production of the musical Les Miserables. Tickets are $15 for adults and $13 for students and Senior Citizens. The box office is located in the auditorium lobby.
  • Tomorrow, February 5th, the Boys Swimming team will be having a home game against Rocky Hill in the NHS Pool at 5:00 pm.
  • February 7th, the Girls Basketball team will be having a home game against Rocky Hill in the Gym at 6:45 pm
  • AP Registration is open. Please come to main school counseling before February 8th to register. Friday, February 8th is the last day for your deposit payment. After that, you will have to pay in full for AP Exams.
  • Volunteers are needed at the Library for a concert event on Sunday, February 10th. Please see Mrs. Ennis in 200A for details and to sign-up.
  • Students interested in participating in the Hartford Hospital Summer VolunTeen program, there will be a mandatory information session on Monday, February 11th from 5:30 pm – 6:30 pm at the hospital. Registration is required and limited to 100 people. Please see Ms. Arnett or Mrs. Ennis in 200A for more information.
  • To All Students & Staff: You are invited to make Soup for The Sioux on Saturday, February 16th from 10 am -12 pm in the NHS café. We are also collecting canned tomatoes! See Mrs. Rodriguez in room 103 to sign up.
  • Parks & Recreation is now accepting for Summer Counselor and Lifeguard positions. The deadline to apply is February 15th. Please see Mrs. Ennis in 200A for an application.
  • Quick Reminder of our School Rules:
    o No Backpacks are allowed during the school day.
    o No Hats or Hoods are allowed during the school day.
    o All students must be in homeroom unless there is an emergency.
    o Refrain from running in the hallways.
