SNOW DAY – B – O – E – C

  • Boys Basketball advanced to the 2nd round if the state tournaments with a 76-63 win over Darien. They will play at Amity at 7:00 pm tonight.
  • Newington DECA brought 39 competitors to the Connecticut DECA competition. Students competed in various business topics. The day was a great success and we are very proud of all the competitors for their hard work and willingness to step out of their comfort zones. Please help congratulate Maggie Callahan, Cassie Mayer, Lauren Tougas, Evan Stanford, Sri Gudipudi, Emilio Cruz, Abby Molloy, Hannah Drew, Evan Lopes, Shihao Zhai, Lize Taschuk, Mekha Jebbu and Simao Cabral.
    Math National Honors Society will be meeting tomorrow in room 224 from 3:00 to 3:15.
  • Fashion Club will be meeting tomorrow after school in room 186 at 2:30 pm. All are welcome! See you there.
  • Spring Sports Registration is open. Sign up before March 13th. Free physicals will be held tomorrow. Sign up in the nurse’s office today.
  • Ice Hockey defeated Trinity Catholic and advanced to the State Tournament Quarter Finals tomorrow at 6:30 pm at Wesleyan.
  • Girls Basketball will play at New London tomorrow at 6:00 pm. Anyone interested in the fan bus should get a permission slip from the athletic office or online at
  • If you are interested in attending the field trips to CCSU’s School of business or MCC’s Culinary Arts Program, please see Mrs. Arnett in room 200A.
  • Don’t forget to buy your tickets for the Spring Production of the musical Les Miserables. Tickets are $15 for adults and $13 for students and Senior Citizens. Buy them at!
  • Enterprise Builders in Newington will be holding a Construction Management Orientation on March 14th from 3 pm – 5 pm at their offices. Students interested in construction, construction management, project management, engineering, or architecture should attend to learn about the many aspects of a Construction Management Company. See Mrs. Ennis in 200A for details.
  • Do you think you have what it takes to beat the teachers and Newington Police Department in Basketball? We are looking for 4 teams, one for each grade to play. If so, please see Ms. Cote in room 212 to sign up to play in the 14th annual Ciara McDermott Basketball Classic to be held on Friday, March 29th. Any student is welcome to play.
  • There will be a field trip to the State Capitol for students interested in manufacturing and engineering on Wednesday, April 24th from 9 am – 1 pm to connect students to careers in manufacturing. Local manufacturing companies will be present to showcase their products and also speak with students about careers, apprenticeships and internships. If you are interested in attending, please see Ms. Arnett or Mrs. Ennis in 200A.
