  • Today is the last day for the Sharing is Caring Kindness Challenge…Please bring in an item or as many items as you’d like, place the items in the boxes located in the cafeteria and enter your name in the kindness box, also located in the cafeteria for a chance to win a gift basket at the end of the month. We are collecting canned foods, juices, cake mixes, pickles, socks, cards, gloves, etc. to help our own community.
  • Attention Seniors- If you have not had a yearbook photo taken by Art Rich, a photographer will be here today in the auditorium to photos. This is the last free session offered.
  • Congratulations to all who auditioned for the Laramie Project. Our first read through will be today after school in the auditorium. Please come with your list of conflicts. If you can’t be there, please see Mr. Connolly.
  • There is a mandatory meeting for all 10th -12th grade Academy Students in the event center during homeroom today. Teachers please check your email for a list of all students who should attend.
  • Representatives from 3 colleges are here today. UCONN will visit at 8:15 am during period 2, Albertus Magnus College during period 4 and Holy Apostles College and Seminary during period 6. Any Junior or Senior interested in meeting with the rep, please make sure you sign up for the visit in Naviance and print your confirmation page to use as your pass.
  • The Rotary needs volunteers for its Annual Golf Tournament on Tuesday, September 25th. Please see Mrs. Ennis ASAP if you are interested in helping.
  • Debate Club is back! If you are interested in debating modern topics or even doing traditional debates, come to a brief informational meeting on Tuesday, September 25th after school in room 336 to talk about debate club this year.
  • Boy’s Golf will have a meeting Thursday, September 27th in room 300 at 2:25 pm.

  • Congratulations to the Girls’ Swimming and Diving team for winning their meet against Middletown on Friday. Amber Rochleau and Lindsay Weaver made state qualifying times.
  • This announcement is for those seniors who have not had their picture taken for the 2019 yearbook. A photographer from Art Rich Studios will be in the auditorium today to take yearbook photos. This is the LAST day that a photographer will come to NHS to take senior pictures. There is no cost associated with having your picture taken for the yearbook. And no appointment is necessary; please go to the auditorium during open study. Questions? Please see Mrs. Mannes in Stoddard House or Mrs. Narowski in room 321.

  • Every day, first responders put their own lives on the line to ensure our safety. The least we can do is show our thanks. Tomorrow is First Responders Night so wear red, white and blue all day and to the Football game. The Trading Post will be selling red, white and blue t-shirts all week for only $10. Stop by and buy one to not only show your school spirit but also to show support and thanks to all the police officers, firefighters, and all other first responders.
  • The Latin Club is selling Red, White and Blue Mardi Gras beads for First Responders Day tomorrow. The cost is $1.00 for a set of three. Please see Ms. Houlihan in room 310 or Latin Club members during Lunch waves.

Labor Day – B – O – E – C

  • Each week staff and students will be asked to complete a KINDNHS challenge. Today is the last day of the 3-2-1 challenge. Meet 3 new people (or one’s you barely know), find out 2 fun facts about them and submit your name 1 time in the KINDNHS box in the café. If you have any ideas for future challenges, please submit them to the KINDNHS ideas bucket in the cafeteria.
  • Students who are between 13 and 16 years old and interested in engineering or medical sciences, UCONN is once again offering its Biomedical Engineering Discovery program this year. The first session, Revolutionizing Prosthetics – Neuromuscular Stimulation will be held on Saturday, September 15th from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm in Farmington. This program fills very quickly.   • NHS Library is pleased to announce the winners of the Summer Reading Challenge. Junior Eric Richard and Freshman Kaitlyn Bialy have won gift cards to the NHS Trading Post.
  • Every day, first responders put their own lives on the line to ensure our safety. The least we can do is show our thanks. Friday, September 14th, is First Responders Night so wear red, white and blue all day and to the Football game. The Trading Post will be selling red, white and blue t-shirts all week for only $10. Stop by and buy one to not only show your school spirit but also to show support and thanks to all the police officers, firefighters and all other first responders.
